The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi has held its ‘Sip and Chat’ programme to promote socialization and strengthen relationships among members of the department.
The event brought together lecturers from various departments and administrative staff, creating a relaxed and interactive atmosphere for all participants. It provided an opportunity for open conversations, idea sharing, and networking beyond academic discussions.
Head of Department, Prof. Frempong Foster, said the inspiration behind the event was to help members of the department and the wider university community bond beyond academics.
“We have this gathering just for people to build friendly relationships with others. That is what we have been doing and will continue to do,” Prof. Frimpong said.
Professor Boateng Kofi Agyenim noted that the event fosters a friendly environment that encourages open interaction among colleagues.
“The work we do here is very stressful, and there are tensions around, so it is nice to have an environment where you can freely communicate with colleagues. It brings a sense of faculty cohesion,” he said.
Faculty and staff described the initiative as an effective way to enhance collaboration and communication within the department.
The session featured lively conversations, laughter, and mutual engagement. The ‘Sip and Chat’ is held twice every semester, with members already looking forward to the next edition.
